The Computer Support team is available to assist all staff and postgraduate students within the School.  The acting team leader of the IT support group is Nick Look.

All non-specialist desktop support requests should be directed to ITS Helpdesk extn 82111 or Email: help.desk@massey.ac.nz

Non-Specialist support includes but is not limited to: Email, Microsoft Office, Mailing Lists, Network Access, Remote Access (VPN - Virtual Private Networking), Wireless Networking, support of lecture and teaching rooms

Specialist support includes specialised software and hardware such as Solidworks, Altium, Matlab and Labview, SEAT Computer Labs (Manawatu) and the provisioning of IT Equipment and accounts

These include:

  • Specialist desktop support with an emphasis on Windows and Mac operating systems. 
  • Allocation and maintenance of computers in SEAT undergraduate and postgraduate labs.
  • New software and hardware purchases
  • Equipment purchases
  • Maintenance and development of software images in the SEAT student laboratories.
  • Maintaining and developing audiovisual facilities
  • Computer Upgrades
  • Mac Backup

These include:

  • Development, support and maintenance of the SEAT and College of Sciences websites
  • Windows Web Server support, maintenance and provisioning
  • Applications to support and maintain the intranet and internet web services of the School.
  • Web based and Database Application development
  • Maintained and administration of databases for both the School and CoS

  • Support and maintenance of SEAT Linux servers and desktop workstations
  • Specialist services including:
    • Version control systems,
    • Linux application servers, and

    • SSH remote access
  • Interoperability between Windows and Linux systems
